PROTECTION AGAINST VARICELLA ZOSTER

Chickenpox (VZV) usually occurs in childhood and manifests itself through fever and an itchy rash. Young adults who have not yet had chickenpox can also become infected and have a significantly higher risk of complications. For this reason, the Federal Office of Public Health recommends that all persons under the age of 40 who have not yet had chickenpox be vaccinated. If there is additionally an increased risk of complications or transmission, vaccination is also recommended for persons age 40 and older. Long-term protection can be achieved with two doses of the Priorix vaccine. If vaccination against measles, mumps, and rubella is also missing, the combination vaccine Priorix Tetra can be used (see MMR vaccination). We vaccinate people aged 16 and over. Pregnant women, people with immunodeficiency, people taking immunosuppressive medication, and people who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the vaccine are excluded from vaccination. As we do not always have the vaccine in stock, we ask you to make an appointment.

Cost per dose: 84.10 CHF

Duration: 15 minutes

Information on coverage by health insurance

For people under the age of 40 (or aged 40 and over with certain risk factors according to the Swiss vaccination schedule), we can bill the vaccine through the mandatory health insurance if they have a prescription for the vaccination. Alternatively, you can send the receipt directly to your health insurance provider. In both cases, the co-payment for the vaccination service is CHF 25. The costs for the vaccination service are also covered by some supplementary insurance policies.
